This lesson is designed to support student understanding of how to improve the use and management of natural resources.
The lesson begins with a review of commonly used natural resources and the negative environmental impacts associated with their use. Students are then tasked with identifying these negative impacts within given scenarios and developing solutions to mitigate the problems.
This lesson builds upon student knowledge of human impact on the environment from standard 4.11B and provides the foundational skills needed to address more complex environmental problems in 6th grade.
