This lesson is designed to support student understanding of making predictions and confirming or correcting those predictions. Students begin by sequencing the events in a text and making simple predictions.

The two instructional blocks in this lesson focus on making and confirming predictions using information from a variety of texts. In the first instructional block students make predictions about characters and their choices based off evidence in a text.

In the second instructional block students find text evidence to confirm and support their predictions.

Passages are intentionally built throughout the lesson to support deeper understanding and allow students to practice the skill in context.
