        This lesson is designed to support student understanding of point of view and how if effects the reader's insight into characters and their feelings. Students begin by sorting sentences by tenses and reviewing basic characteristics of different points of view.


        The two instructional blocks in this lesson focus on determining the point of view and its impact on the reader. In the first instructional block students name the point of view and the narrator in various types of text.


        In the second instructional block students analyze how the point of view of a text determines what the reader knows about the actions and characteristics of the characters in a text.


        Passages are intentionally built throughout the lesson to support deeper understanding and provide authentic ways to practice the skill.
