        This lesson is designed to support student understanding of decoding and spelling words with prefixes. Students begin by categorizing sentences as either fiction or non-fiction and breaking apart words into the pre-fix and base word.


        The two instructional blocks in this lesson focus on decoding and spelling words with prefixes. In the first instructional block students identify words with prefixes, break them apart into the prefix and base word, and then determine the meaning of the word with a prefix.
