This lesson is designed to build foundational vocabulary, understanding of the metric and customary measurement system and all units within both systems.
The two instructional blocks in this lesson are units of measurement and measurement tools.
The first instructional block focuses on when to measure volume vs. when to measure weight.
The second instructional block has students identify which tools they will use to measure depending on if they are measuring volume or weight.
Pictorial representations are intentionally integrated into the lesson to support conceptual learning.
