        This lesson is designed to help students find evidence in the text that support a variety of ideas from the text. Students begin by sorting words by syllables and defining evidence.


        The three instructional blocks in this lesson focus on helping student find evidence in a variety of texts to support given ideas. In the first instructional block students use fiction texts to find evidence to support given ideas and statements.


        In the second instructional block students read nonfiction texts and then find evidence to support given facts and details.


        Passages are intentionally built throughout the lesson to provide practice and analysis.
