The first instructional block focuses on pronouns and how certain pronouns clue the reader into the point of view in the passage. The second instructional block has students identify the narrator and point of view within various passages, with explicit instruction in the idea of the 'outside observer' narrator.

Passages are intentionally built throughout the lesson to support deeper understanding and put learning into context.
