This lesson is designed to support student understanding of the roles of consumers and producers in society and figuring out the total cost of making a product.
The two instructional blocks in this lesson focus on consumers and producers and calculating the cost to produce goods or items.
In the first instructional block, students are presented with different scenarios in order to evaluate who are the producers and consumers based on what they are making and who is buying the goods.
The second instructional block focuses on how to calculate the total cost to make a good or product. Students take a list of costs and add them to get the total cost to produce a good or item.
Scaffolds such as supported expressions and visual models are intentionally built throughout the lesson to support conceptual learning.
