This lesson is designed to support student understanding of saving and spending.
The two instructional blocks in this lesson focus on calculating savings over time, and determining wants or needs when spending.
In the first instructional block, students are presented with habits for saving and they calculate savings over time based on different scenarios.
The second instructional block focuses on the difference between wants and needs when deciding to spend versus save.
Scaffolds such as supported expressions and visual models are intentionally built throughout the lesson to support conceptual learning.
