TEKS 5.10C: Formation of Landforms
Landforms
About this lesson
Learning Target: I can determine if landforms are made by wind, water, or ice and give examples of each.
Focuses On:
- Landform creation due to wind, water, and ice
- Weathering, erosion, and deposition
Builds On:
4.10(B) model and describe slow changes to Earth's surface caused by weathering, erosion, and deposition from water, wind, and ice
Next Level:
7.10(A) describe the evidence that supports that Earth has changed over time, including fossil evidence, plate tectonics, and superposition

This lesson is designed to support student understanding of how landforms are shaped by wind, water, and ice through the processes of weathering, erosion, and deposition over time.
The lesson examines each agent of change—wind, water, and ice—separately, teaching students about the specific landforms each can create and identifying which processes (weathering, erosion, or deposition) are primarily responsible.
This lesson builds upon student knowledge of weathering, erosion, and deposition from standard 4.10B and prepares them to learn more about Earth's changes over time in standard 7.10A.
