This lesson is designed to help students understand what comparative and superlative adjectives are, as well and how to use them based on the sentence or passage. Students begin by revisiting the difference between nouns and adjectives.
The two instructional blocks in this lesson focus on understanding comparative and superlative adjectives, and using comparative and superlative adjectives in sentences and passages. The first instructional block focuses deeper on common adjectives as well as irregular adjectives such as good, bad, much/many, and little.
The second instructional block focuses on ensuring students understand which form to use in context based on the number of items/objects/people the adjective is comparing.
Passages are intentionally built throughout the lesson to support deeper understanding and put their learning into context.
